ONE MILLION..!
by Joop Blokker
Do you remember our roll call to join and support the World Community Grid? It's a ground breaking initiative that helps accelerate research into vital humanitarian projects.
I can't say that I am impressed by an overwhelming response. NILL, ZERO and NADA people wanted to join and give away something they don't use anyway: the processor time of your pc when it is doing nothing and just waits idle for input.
Nevertheless I am happy with the small group of members that had joined back in November last year and for them I have great news! On April 30, 2009 we reached the landmark of ONE MILLION points! A 'point' is calculated so that people with a slow pc are equally 'rewarded' as the ones with a roaring fast machine.
Though this is a fantastic result, it is NOT what it's about at all. What really counts is your donated unused computer cycle time that may help find a cure for childhood cancers and other terrible diseases. And for that I say: THANK YOU!
It is never too late to join the Mokum Mail Team that has the motto "All For One And One For All!" - that sounds familiar, no?

Thank you from the bottom of my heart...

Theme TIP for WIDER screen displays.
by Karen Shirron
I thought I would pop in with a suggestion for image placement when making a THEME that repeats vertically for E.G. a spiral notebook effect.
YES, this has been covered in the MM Academy lessons BUT as more and more people are getting WIDER screens for their PC, it is time to take that into account when making new Themes for MM. The above image is 1024 px wide and when everyone had that screen size, it was not a problem at all to have your settings in the theme window as BOTH.
It viewed just fine and there was NO repeat on the right side....BUT with many who now have their screens set at a higher resolution, this is what they are viewing!
With it repeating, the TEXT of your message often runs over that repeated graphic on the right making it difficult to read, as well. There IS a simple solution and perhaps we should all make note of it. You want others to see your work as you view it when creating it, right? When the image has a plain background (no matter the color) like above, you do NOT need to make it wider...just change one setting in your Theme window!!
Click on the placement drop down options and choose the 'repeat vertical-left' option! No matter the screen size someone has, they will now see your theme as such:
Now IF your background is textured or patterned....that is a different story!! You really need to make those wider than 1024 pixels to begin with, but we shall leave that for another day....
And YES...I am aware that it is probably time to start re-doing some of the Academy lessons to take wider screens into consideration. I know this, why?? I am one of those with a very WIDE screen!
Kind regards,
