Cleaning Out Messages
Maintenance or cleaning out files in MM is really quite simple. Unlike OE, Mokum Mail does not create infamous databases. Saved messages are files in .EML format which can be viewed both in MM or OE. Thus, there are no dbx files to clean out. However... you may want to move these .EML messages into ZIP files now and then if you want them backed up just to avoid a very full Inbox!.
Cleaning Out Folders
In addition, messages that you "Forward" stay in the \OUTBOX\FORWARDED folder; and messages that you have sent in .MHT format stay in the \OUTBOX\AOL folder; Thus, You may want to clean those folders now and then.
What are .IDX files?
You may notice in these mailbox folders small .IDX files. These are plain text files that MM creates and uses to read the files list very fast. You do not have to back-up these files. If they are not there, MM simply creates new ones.
Moving Messages To The Trash Bin.
In Mokum Mail you can empty a folder very fast by click-dragging in the Del column. The files are not really deleted but rather they go to the recycle bin. If you inadvertently delete one or more message files, you can simply go to your recycle bin and click on restore.
I leave it to the user to empty the recycle bin regularly. You can also delete a whole folder using Windows Explorer. MM doesn't have any problem with that, it always checks to see if a file still exists.
