Address Book, v8.0 -
In Mokum Mail v8.0 and previous versions, clicking on this command from the Main window will open your address book...

In windows where you see the "Friends" button, this too will open your address book!

Once opened, you will see this window where your names and addresses will be showing below. (I did not include in the screen capture for privacy reasons...)

To add a new entry here... click on the NEW button.

On the left:
Add the person's Name, Address (or Mailing List File Name), Nick Name and, if desired, the Group field:

Adressee's nick name(s). You may enter more than one nick name, each separated by a semi-colon ( ; )

The photo field is where you can link a picture to an addressee that will show when writing a message to that person. You will find a folder in the MM folder called MM_Photos. This is where you should add any photos (jpg, gif, or bmp) you want to use, making sure they are sized to 90 pixels x 90 pixels. Quick Help Demo here...
Note for MAILING LIST FILE NAME: In the TO ADDRESS field you can either enter a (one) correct e-mail address or a MAILING LIST FILE NAME. To enter a Mailing List File Name, click on the [..] file button and select a file name from the ..\MM_Data\MM_Groups folder.

Previously, you should have created a Mailing List File which is a plain text file. It should contain any number of e-mail addresses, each address on a line of it's own. If the file contains e-mail addresses of your relatives, name the file RELATIVES.TXT

Using a Mailing List file may come in handy for sending a message in one go to all your friends, relatives, or business relations.

Read the file EXAMPLE.TXT in the ..\MM_Data\MM_Groups\EXAMPLE.TXT file.
Subject [Group] Field:
This can be quite a handy field to use. If you are writing to a group (e.g. a Yahoo list) then you should complete the Group field; MM will automatically prefix the subject line with the [Groupname] in square brackets but only if the [Groupname] is not already present in the subject line. Furthermore, when you download messages to your MM Inbox, those with a [Groupname] will automatically be sorted into their own sub-folder.
NOTE: Keep in mind this does not absolutely have to be a group! You can make a "group name" for an individual as well... Eg. [Family] for messages to your relatives!
You Wrote, Hello, and Bye Fields:
The above will appear from what you previously used so if you want them different for a new addresse, you will need to change them!

On the right:
These fields contain the data that you used the last time you completed an address book record, thus you do not have to type the same data over and over again. However, these fields can be changed if necessary.

For example: IF you have more than one account, use the drop down arrows to show which you want used for this new addressee.

Your Signature:
The Your Signature field may contain: When you click on the Signature button, the program checks to see if a file is present in ..MM_Data\MM_SigFiles that has the name NickName".TXT -- where "NickName" is the sender's real nickname, in my case JOOP.TXT. If the file does not exist it is created. The result you see below.

If you have more than one name, picture name or script file name (separated by semi colons) in the Your Signature fields, then one of these will be selected at random when you write a new message or reply to the addressee.
Tip: The .TXT text file can also contain a script to show a so called 'disclaimer paragraph' like this...

If these fields are blank: When done with adding a NEW ENTRY or when EDITING an old... click SAVE!

There are 2 other ways in which an address can (and in one case will be) added to your address book. Search Field:
Without scrolling through the entire address book to find an entry, you can start typing the beginning of a listed name in the 'Search' field and Mokie will pull that address into view. In other words, the search in the address book is alphabetical.

EG: You have a listing for Jane Doe. In the search field start typing Jan....

Any entries starting with 'Jan' will pop into view.

Change All
If you have an email address change, use the button [CHANGE] to easily change your email address in all address book entries.
